OSMOPE (SOLD OUT)
(Organização Social Movimento das Pontes Educativas)
Day care – Kindergarten, Pre-school, and 1st cycle of Basic Education
OSMOPE takes the name after the educational mission it embraces: to build and explore educational bridges, assisting very young children (from 4 months old to 12 years of age) in their very first steps to get to know the world and human relationships. Bridges unite, make it possible to go from a place to another, make connections between different places, enable getting to know, looking ahead, crossing to reach other people, other habits and ways of being, other universes. This school perceives education as an inclusive whole, open to the diversity and uniqueness that are part of each human being. Project-oriented activities propel children from very tender age to be directly involved in their class projects’ choices, to handle their own emotions, character and place in the world, to learn about themselves and the others, to learn about their community as well as the world around. Every wall, room and open space in OSMOPE speak of involvement, creativity, communication, curiosity, respect for the other, and of learning and caring not only to those that live this school every day, but also to their visitors.

Escola da Ponte (SOLD OUT)
Escola Básica da Ponte is a public school situated in S. Tomé de Negrelos, a small village near the city of Santo Tirso, in the district of Porto, North of Portugal. It has around two hundred students from Preschool to Secondary School (from 3 to 15 years old), organized in three main groups: Beginning Group, Development Group and Higher Development Group.
It is nationally known for its unique Educational Project «Fazer a Ponte» as it offers a pedagogical and organizational model that has no equivalent in the country and distinguishes itself from the traditional educational approaches of other educational systems. It was created in 1976, when José Pacheco and a small group of teachers started a set of innovating educational changes that questioned all that was established in terms of school organization, curriculum approach, teacher and students’ distribution (regarding time and space). The value of our Educational Project «Fazer a Ponte» was later recognized by the Ministry of Education, which led to the signature of an Autonomy Treaty.
This School has an inclusive and cooperative philosophy summed up in the belief that we can all learn with one another and whoever learns, learns their one way practicing citizenship. Every child’s uniqueness is respected and it is our aim to develop their critical mind, their creativity, their sense of democracy, to improve social behaviour, promoting self-involvement, autonomy, solidarity, responsibility and respect towards others, through the experience of living in citizenship and community within the walls of school.
Students work in heterogeneous groups and share learning rooms. They conduct their learning process with gradual autonomy in the tree main groups referred before, through self-planning and self-evaluation, using many other educational devices and through the help of a tutor, besides the teachers associated to curricular areas. The Assembly Meeting is an important moment in the week, as all students gather to discuss and solve problems pointed out by them, in order to make school function better, and to share what they are learning.
Escola Básica da Ponte has no borders, it’s an open school that is always willing to promote learning through the development of projects and enriching partnerships, at a national and international scope.
